Curriculum

  1. Knowledge Modules - 100 Credits required
  2. Practical Skills Modules - 130 Credits required
  3. Total 230 credits required over a two year period
  4. Work Experience Modules - 130 Credits required over a 12 month period
  5. Final Summative assessment (trade test) required to complete qualification

  1. health, Safety, Quality and Legislation, NQF level 3
  2. Environment, Energy Efficiency and Ethics NQF level 4
  3. Tools, Equipment, Components and Site Practice, NQF level 3
  4. Drawings and Applied Sciences, NQF level 4
  5. Theory of Water and Drainage, NQF level 4
  6. Above and Below Ground Drainage Systems, NQF level 4
  7. Sanitary ware, NQF level 4
  8. Hot and cold water systems, NQF level 4
  9. Installation and Maintenance Theory for Plumbing Systems, NQF level 4

Practical Skills Modules

  1. Install, maintain and test above ground soil waste and vent systems and sanitary ware appliances
  2. Install, maintain and test below-ground drainage systems
  3. Install, maintain and test cold water and hot water systems
  4. Install, maintain and test rain water systems

Work Experience Modules

  1. Processes and procedures for installation and testing of above ground soil waste and vent systems and sanitary ware appliances
  2. Processes and procedures for installation and testing of below-ground drainage systems and performing basic building work
  3. Procedures and processes for installation and maintenance of cold water and hot water systems
  4. Procedures and processes for installation and maintenance of rain water systems
  5. Processes and procedures for installation and testing of above ground soil waste and vent systems and sanitary ware appliances
  6. Processes and procedures for installation and testing of below-ground drainage systems and performing basic building work
  7. Procedures and processes for installation and maintenance of cold water and hot water systems
  8. Procedures and processes for installation and maintenance of rain water systems

Note: Work Place and final summative assessment must be managed and monitored by Training Providers.
