New apprenticeship of the 21st Century (A21) - 3 year course

Plumber occupation certificate Qualified plumber (NQF4) is a 3 year course consisting of the following: 

Knowledge and practical modules + 1 year workplace + Trade Test = 3 years 

* NOTE: Entry requirements = Grade 11 or NQF3 (50% or more for maths & science)

1. Knowledge modules

a. 100 credits required for knowledge modules

b. Training carried out at private and public colleges, training centres and schools

c. Formative assessment required

2. Practical Skill modules

a. 130 credits required for knowledge modules

b. Training carried out at private and public colleges, training centres and schools

c. Formative assessment required

230 total credits required over a 2 year period for knowledge and practical modules

3. Work Experience modules

a. 130 credits required for knowledge modules

b. On the job at a workplace full time for 1 year

c. Monitored and managed by colleges, training providers or schools

d. Final summative assessment and trade test required
